Yay Friday!

Whew! Sorry for the later release tonight everyone! There were lots and lots of little things to do for this release!

Blackwyn Tomb
Blackwyn Tomb has been a side projects of Ghosts for a few weeks. You can explore the large rambling map and find hidden shops, lockpicking puzzlesand avenge a few heroes while you're there! To finish questing there you simply have to walk back out of the front of the tomb.

There are lots of secrets to unlock here so the spoiler rule is in effect here! Who knows what you'll find in the Tomb... or how it may affect things outside the tomb as well?

Falconreach Guardian Tower
The new Falconreach Tower is up! Constructed with the original plans on what was left of the base of the old tower. Check out the new expanded tower and visit with some old friends.

Stoneheart Fall
True Mortal has opened his forge and you can now merge your Ignis Gems into new weapons, capes and helms! A few options come with even more doom!


Cysero's Superstore
Cysero has a new helm in stock as well! Check out Belial's Armored Visage!

Tower Plans

The Falconreach Guardian Tower was destroyed in Sepulchure's ferocious attack at the beginning of the summer, but even as his fortress crashed into the tower the Guardians of Falconreach did not stop fighting against the darkness. With the war finally over, the Guardians have found the original plans to the Tower and have been rebuilding on the base of the old tower. Tomorrow's release will the new Tower complete and ready to explore!

The long lost tomb of the Blackwyn line has been discovered. What monsters shuffle along in its dusty halls? What treasures lie hidden in it's darkened corners? Will you survive long enough to find out? Find out tomorrow!

A Mysterious Orb

Make no mistake... the hooded stranger that has taken over the body of Drakath is the same one that began selling Doom Weapons outside Falconreach many years ago. An agent of darkness who wishes to rid Lore of the pollution of the other elemental realms. An agent of darkness that has spent ages slowly building up, accreting it's very being, in the shadows. An agent that has now bound itself to the most powerful weapon that Lore has ever seen, the body of the dragon Drakath!

A new peddlar now sits outside Falconreach (for now...), hawking the Doom Weapons... do you still want one?

The World Destroyer

Rolith has been working hard on the titan fight against Drakath. You'll get to team up with Sepulchure and, hopefully, take down the wrathful Prince...to win this battle though, you really will have to work together and watch how Sepulchure's attacks affect Drakath.

This titan fight will be available to all players, so get your dragon and fight! If you can defeat Drakath the Draconis Tenebras can be yours....

An Unlikely Duo

Drakath's transformation has made him the most powerful darkness dragon in the history of Lore. Neither you or Sepulchure has been able to put a significant dent in him alone... but the enemy of your enemy is, well, still a really bad guy. True Mortal, one of the few Spirit Wardens left, has been guarding his Portal for ages. He has lost contact with the other Guardians and now, now he has sensed a disturbance in the elemental planes. Monsters are attcking in Dragesvard and the Sandsea and he needs your help to stop them. To find out what is threatening his portal and the others attached.

This week, the first two random quests will be available in Stoneheart Fall!

The Face of Doom

Sepulchure has been our hero's nemesis for years now, but just what exactly does the mysterious DoomKnight look like under his mask? Is he handsome? Scarred? Is there much of a face even left for the undead Knight?

The artists of DragonFable each have their own vision for what Sepulchure is hiding. They all seem to agree that he's a redhead though!

Now, I stress this more then anything I've stressed before... the following pictures are NOT OFFICIAL.


Ghost's original sketch has Sepulchure still whole. The second version is a little more gruesome and definitely more undead! Does Sepulchure still have eyes? Or is there just darkness?


True Mortal's version is much grimmer, more sallow, with red glowing eyes and marks on his face.

Cutscenes. We haz dem.

Geo asked me to talk about how we do the cutscenes, so here we go…

Five days ago, Geo handed me a script.  A really awesome script for the next part of Chapter 1's finale, which we are releasing right now. Reading through it, I thought to myself "Dude.. we really need to make this one kick butt with both feet".  So, I got to work animating it.. and by early afternoon I knew this was going to be pretty danged epic. We've got such a great team, and sometimes you just know it's all going to come together perfectly. So.. I got out my guitar and cranked my amp and laid down the music you'll hear during tonight's release. After it was recorded, we asked Warlic to master the song to give it a really polished sound. That song… has been looping in my iTunes for a solid week. I find it helps me really get into the cutscene if I animate it along with the music that will be playing.. and so off I went animating the days away quickly losing all sense of time. 

Somewhere around Thursday, I had much of the cutscenes beginning to come together, and so I dug out my wacom.* I use it for all the frame-by-frame effects animations you've been seeing lately.(Like those shadowscythe symbols that morphed in and out during the Seppy boss fight). As I've only owned it for a few months**, I've been slowly getting better and quicker at using it.. Well, this week I went nuts with it.

Bone Chests Rattling!

The Bone Chests are rattling and will open in just a few hours! If you didn't manage to gather one from Sepulchure's forces this past weekend, Cysero still has a few in stock but they will be gone before the boxes open at 5pm tonight.

The Bone Chests have opened! Check in with the Black Market Moglin to upgrade the items found inside. You can combine the items with Vertebral Columns to upgrade them. The Vertebre are located in the Special Essences shop.

A Message from Circe!

One of our favorite things about DF is the relationship between the designers and the players. There's a good rhythm there, a lot of back and forth that is so rewarding. The two most noticeable markers of that relationship are the discussion in the GD and the suggestions in DF Suggestions. As the game changes and as our responsibilities to it change, we've discovered that the old way of taking suggestions doesn't always work. We want there to be more feedback and more interaction, but we also want it built around discussion - around the exchange of ideas. This prompted us to come up with ways we could blend suggesting with discussing.
 
To that end, DF Suggestions will be eliminated by July 1st. Make sure you save all your work stored in that forum to your private computer!
 
On July 1st, DF Suggestions will disappear and special suggestions threads will appear in the DF GD! Members of the game and forum teams will be posting threads soliciting specific feedback from the players to improve or supplement the game. While this does mean that we're not allowing players to submit any suggestions they want anymore, it also means that we're going to utilize General Discussion forum to get player participation channeled in a way that makes it more meaningful to game design.
 
We appreciate your patience (and tolerance!) during this period of upheaval and look forward to seeing your ideas!!

The Final 13th Generals

The war bosses are ready and waiting... and they're not happy that their Bone Chests are being stolen off their soldiers! The war meter sits at 96%... will you be able to finish the war this weekend? Or will the Bone Chests hold their secrets for longer? For if Sepulchure's necromancers aren't defeated by Tuesday, the mysterious Bone Chests will remain locked!

Bone Chests and Blackwyn Tomb

The war rages on... and now, as Sepulchure's forces are beginning to be forced back in the confusion of his absence from Drakath's betrayal, bone chests are being found! The Talus Chest, Horn Chest and Ossien Chest will drop rarely from the war waves until Sunday midnight, though Cysero has somehow gotten his hands on a few that his Orb is selling for 75 Dragon Coins each in his Superstore.
