Book 3: Through the Frost - Cooling Down

Hey there, heroes!

This week, the finale of the Through the Frost storyline has arrived!

Alongside Vilmor, Cryozen, and your dragon, you tracked down a mysterious new hive of Hollow. Together, you discovered and defeated an old foe... And now only the end remains. Head over to Book 3 Dragesvard's Shore to finish this story!

Also this week, a new cosmetic helm is available for purchase!

What a mysterious helm! The Ancient Ceremonial Helm of Ravens can be purchase from the DC Cosmetics shop for 300 Dragon Coins!

We've also spent time this week setting up the DragonSlayer rework! While it's ALMOST ready for release, we want to take a little bit more time to iron out the details and test it out (Hopefully ready with next week's release!).

The reworked DragonSlayer class is all about knowing when to take hits and when to defend... and counter! While all of the skills and numbers won't be listed out this week, I'll briefly cover some of the mechanics here.

Slayer's Instinct activates when you receive a hit (once per turn), increasing all Damage Reduction by 3% (up to 15%). You can then expend 3 Instinct to gain 1 turn of +100 Defenses (in addition to your normal skill effects). This is ideal for building up the other main mechanic:

Slayer's Anaysis activates when you Defend a hit (once per turn), increasing your Crit by 10 (up to 50). Expending 3 Analysis is required for your 2 most powerful skills.

Defending a hit also enables you to Counter, granting you Bonus and Crit for your next turn and empowering most of your skills with stronger effects or damage. You can only Counter on the turn immediately after Defending, however, so choose your timings wisely!

We also have a preview of a few of the skills and effects this class has that help enable this Counter playstyle:

The Counter Stance skill is unique, in that it grants you Defense, but instead of a cooldown, the effect's potency recharges over a few turns. The longer you wait between uses, the stronger your Defense becomes! It also removes your Avoidance, ensuring that the monster doesn't just miss you.

A couple skills will grant you Prepared Parry, which lets your Counters become even more potent, increasing Crit and Boost for 2 turns after a successful Defend.

And, due to the heavy armor of DragonSlayer, the class has a passive -Avd and -Def built in. This helps reduce the chances of Avoiding attacks*, and also emphasizes using the class's built in tools to Defend and Counter. That said, there are definitely some strategies you can plan out by manipulating your Defenses! (*DragonSlayer's Avoidance skill has increased effectiveness to counteract this)

Also, certain Inn challenges involving Dragons, and the DragonKnight set's special will be adjusted as well.

We hope you'll look forward to trying it out next week! With all that said, as always, numbers and effects are subject to change as we test and fine tune and bug fix things.

Finally, an option to automatically hide your helm when outside of battle has been added to the options!

And that's all for this week!
